- a letter from PJ Method, Marlins President - May 9, 2012
Friends and Family of the Reedley Marlins,
I am writing this letter to bring everyone up to speed on the facts about the rumors of the
closing of the Reedley College Pool. I was just notified of this possibility for the first time on Monday.
First of all, in case you have not heard, we have been informed by Reedley College that
there is a strong possibility the pool will be closing as of Tuesday, May 15, 2012. The pool does not
meet current ADA standards by not having a lift in the pool.
As of now I am still waiting to hear back from the College about an extension that
they are requesting. This extension, IF granted, could be for the summer or for a year.
The board is currently working on what options we have to salvage this year's swim season.
This closure will affect the City of Reedley, Reedley High School Aquatics programs,
and of course us, the Marlins. For now please still plan on having your children attend
practice. I am hoping for the best. I will keep everyone informed as the situation changes.
Furthermore I would urge anyone who is involved in Reedley aquatics to sign a
petition that has been going around to build a pool on the Reedley High campus.
Or you can contact your area School Board representative. The City of Reedley
will have no public pool if the College pool closes.
Sincerely,
P.J. Method

Welcome Back!
- a letter from PJ Method, Marlins President - February 7, 2012
Hello Parents, Friends and Families of the Reedley Marlins,
We're getting ready to kick off our 2012 swim season and look forward
to seeing everyone back.
Early Swim (for returning swimmers) will begin at
5:30 pm on Monday, March 5th at the Reedley College Pool. Early Swim practice
will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We will announce the
dates for Rookie Swim Week (for newcomers) soon.
Janet Goodreau and Summer Thomas will be back as head coaches. We are looking
forward to another successful, fun year. Part of that success
will be, as always,
help and participation from all parents and family members.
As you all know, it takes a lot of work to put on meets so the more
help we get, the smoother it goes. Soon we will put together a sheet
for you to
register for helping. Furthermore, we are a returning board, and some
members have served for more than 4 years. We welcome
any parent wishing to
become a board member to contact any current board member to discuss possibilities.
Participating and helping is the best way to test the waters (pardon the pun) to see if this is
something you'd be interested in doing.
We're planning
several fundraisers to help off set operating costs.
Some of the fundraisers will be designed specifically to apply directly to reduce individual
registration fees
while others will go towards covering overall team expenses. At this time we have
not determined the swimmer registration costs, but will do so soon.
If anyone has
suggestions, comments, questions or concerns please see me or any other board
member to discuss. We will strive to be available and approachable and will always take your
suggestions, comments or concerns into consideration.
If you know of
potential new swimmers please encourage them to come
out. This is especially needed in our boys teams. In some cases last year
we were not able to participate in relays due to not having enough boys.
I look forward to seeing you all again soon,
Swim Hard Swim Fast!
PJ Method
President, Reedley Marlins
The Marlins Board says a big "Thank You!" to everyone who helped make
this 2011 season a success - the swimmers, their parents and families, the coaches and everyone else who
volunteered their time and supported the Marlins in so many ways. We look forward to everyone coming
back next year - and invite your friends.
If you have any comments or questions about Reedley Marlins
please call PJ or Pam Method at 638-0179.
Good luck to you in whatever you do in the off-season.
Swim Hard, Swim Fast!
If interested in year-round swimming, consider joining the
Raisin Country Aquatics program in
Selma. Several Marlins swimmers participate in RCA.
